An Extremely Unlikely Scenario

inspired by zarla's handplates au, i am certain i am like the 259th person to do a "what if gaster did a heel-face-turn"

well, i thought it would probably be a painstakingly slow process, in which gaster slowly stops doing experiments, feeling less and less motivated and in turn doing them further and further apart while he grapples with himself before he just kind of... stops.

and he kind of neglects to keep an eye on them too because he's so frazzled and lost and probably just.... not really feeling anything at all at that point, turning the same things over and over in his head again and again and getting nowhere

skelebros aren't sure what's going on but due to his inattentiveness they are able to leave the cell and roam about the laboratory, and when Gaster doesn't seem them in their cell he's like fucking shit and tracks them down and finds them in the lab

maybe one of the torture machines... uh, ray guns was acting up or something idk, or they accidentally activated it somehow

sleep-deprived, sanity-deprived gaster's parental instincts kick in, and he narrowly pushes sans out of the way and recieves a nice zap to the face

papy immediately rushes over to his brother to make sure he's okay, and then they both just kind of stare at gaster as he grips at the eyesocket that is bleeding all over the place and will no longer function

and that is how gaster got the cracks on his face and the dead lazy eye


i mean, the brothers would probably know better than to hang around deadly malfunctioning machines and gaster could have easily grabbed sans with his magic hands instead but uh

then we wouldn't have this scenario and i do love me some cliche pushing-person-out-of-harm's-way


after this papy would probably rush over and be like ARE YOU OKAY??? and gaster just kind of mumbles at them to go back to their room while he gets up and stumbles off, or he grabs them with his magic hands and tosses them back in, either way

and then maybe he would go back to experimenting on them for awhile?? idk, i can't help but imagine him being a revolving door sort of character, at least in zarla's universe (although i guess he kind of already is?? he's just good at squashing those gross soft feelies before they can really take hold)
